Irene Mae (Mlenek) Sutter, 80

Irene Mae (Mlenek) Sutter, age 80, of Morristown, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca.

Irene was born on June 26, 1943, at Meehl’s Maternity Home in Morristown to Frank & Opal (Schwanke) Mlenek. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1961. She married Richard Elmer Sutter on April 2, 1965, in Waterville.

After her graduation, Irene was employed by Herter’s, E.F. Johnson, Truth and Itron.

Irene liked to read, assemble puzzles, word puzzle books, visiting with neighbors, and morning coffee at the Morristown Community Hall.

Irene leaves behind three children Lori (Daniel) Espeland of Truman, Penny (William) Mulcahey of Waterville, and Jerry (Barb) Sutter of Weston, WI; her six grandchildren Nicole Condon of Burnsville, Loren (Lacey) Espeland of Winnebago, Justin (special friend Amelia Danzer) Sutter of Waseca, Christoffer Mulcahey of Waterville, Hunter (fiancé Alivia Doepke) Sutter of Weston, WI and Delaney Sutter of Weston, WI; her great-grandchildren Kodi, Johanna, Gavin, Natalie, Sophia, Samantha, Greyson, Hendrix.

She is survived by her siblings, Art Mlenek, Lucy (Clifford) Schmidtke, Lyle Mlenek, Sharon (Norman) Malecek, Lisa (Michael) Kletschka; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Mlenek, Audrey Hayes, JoAnn Sutlief, Janette (Robert) Larson, Nana Sutter, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, sisters Gertrude Spitzack and Sylvia Weilage; brother Ray Mlenek.

A private graveside service is being planned at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
