Robert Lawrence Grundhoffer, 86

Robert Lawrence Grundhoffer, age 86, of Waterville, died Monday, October 7, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.

Born on November 11, 1937, in New Prague. He was the son of William Francis and Elsie Elizabeth (Duffney) Grundhoffer. When he was 18, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service, on February 11, 1961, he married Shirley Ann Fuller at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery. He was a member of the Minnesota Dark House and Angling Association and the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waterville. He enjoyed working on cars, especially hit-and-miss engines, dirt track racing when he was young, playing cards and games, hunting, fishing and collecting antiques. 

He is survived by his children, Rory Grundhoffer and Troy (Bridget) Grundhoffer, both of Waseca; grandchildren, Shane, Shanda, Blaine, Jillian, Rory Jr., and Jade; numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and sister, Sharon Balfe of Kilkenny. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Kirk Robert, and his sisters, Caroline and Linda Grundhoffer.

Visitation will be held, Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at the Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service - Waterville Chapel. Funeral service will be held, Monday, October 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waterville with Pastor Kathy King officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be held at the Sakatah Lake Cemetery in Waterville.
