What about them?

They are interesting, at least at the time you read them. And maybe even down the road when you bring up some of this useless information just for conversation sake.

I was rummaging through a book called The Best of Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader and pulled out many facts which mean nothing to almost everyone, except me… for conversation sake that is.

These aren’t things you need to know, but maybe you can wow that person in your life who thinks he or she knows it all.

Here you go…

• There are only two places in the world where men outlive women - southern Asia and Iran.

• At this moment, 2,000 thunderstorms are taking place around the world.

• Accidents rise 10 percent in the first week of daylight saving time. • Iceland consumes more Coca-Cola per capita than any other nation on earth.

• Only about one third of the Gilligan’s Island episodes were about getting off the island.

• It takes 3,000 cows to supply the National Football League with enough leather for a year’s supply of footballs.

• Restroom tip - The first stall is usually the cleanest because most people who are seeking privacy usually skip it.

• There are an average of 178 sesame seeds on a McDonald’s Big Mac bun.

• When do shoplifters pilfer the most stuff? Between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and Sunday.

• Kentucky Fried Chicken’ Col. Sanders was actually born in Indiana.

• There are 10 doctors in the United States whose last names are “Nurse.”

• Pound for pound, hamburgers cost more than new cars.

• If you’re a healthy, fullgrown adult, your thigh bones are stronger than concrete.

• An estimated 79 percent of Americans have purchased lottery tickets.

• It is possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not downstairs.

• If you are an average American, you will spend six months of your life waiting for red lights.

• The average adult male shaves off a pound of beard growth every 10 years.

• If you are of average weight, which I would be if I was 8-feet, 10-inches tall, multiply your weight by .02 and that is how much your brain weighs.

• In 1900, the average American drank 12 sodas a year. Today it is well over 600 a year.

• Red-headed men are more likely to go bald than anyone else.

• One in five Americans cannot say which president is on the one dollar bill.

• There are six pounds of pennies in the average American home.

• In 10 minutes, a hurricane releases more energy than all the world’s nuclear weapons combined.

• Four baseball promotions that failed - Beer Night, Scrap Metal Night, Wet T-Shirt Night, and Disco Demolition Night.
