The Tri-City United School Board selected a new elementary school principal following the retirement announcement earlier this year by Montgomery principal Deb Dwyer.

At the March 30 school board meeting, the seven board members unanimously voted to approve Lisa Manders as the newest addition to the school district, as the principal of the pre-K to eighth grade principal in Montgomery.

Manders was one of more than 25 candidates vying for the position, according to TCU Superintendent Teri Preisler.

Preisler said the hiring committee completed two rounds of candidate interviews, along with extensive reference checks and connections before making the final decision.

"(Manders) emerged as our top candidate," said Preisler. "She has excitedly accepted."

Manders comes to TCU with 17 years of experience in education. During her first 12 years in education she was a second and third grade classroom teacher. In the past five years she has served as a peer coach, district Q-Comp coordinator, and the dean of students at two elementary schools within the Prior Lake-Savage District. She has been with the Prior Lake-Savage school district since 2004. She received her K-12 principal licensure from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
