American Legion delivers Valentine’s, welcomes two new members
Junior members of the Montgomery American Legion Auxiliary Unit #79 (ALA), Izzi Kotek and Nevaeh Persing, crafted Valentine’s Day cards for 11 local veterans in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Auxiliary member Colleen Pavek delivered some of the cards to veterans at The Harbor and Golden Years Home. Auxiliary members Mary Jane Grundhoffer and Connie Shriver delivered the rest of the Valentine’s Day cards to veterans at Traditions of Montgomery and Park Manor Apartments.
The auxiliary also officially welcomed two new members to the unit on Tuesday, Feb. 14 during its annual Valentine’s Day Dinner. Jill Smith and Stephanie Choudek, both of Montgomery, were initiated into the unit. The ALA is a community of volunteers serving veterans, military, and their families. Its members also support the mission of the American Legion in improving the quality of life for the nation’s veterans.
ALA will hold its next monthly meeting Wednesday, March 8 at 7 p.m., at the American Legion in Montgomery. A light meal will be served at starting at 6:30 p.m.
