Eugenia B. Jones, 97

Eugenia B. Jones, 97, formerly of Montgomery, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Commons on Marice in Eagan.

A private mass will be held on Tuesday, June 9, with Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

“Gene” was born on March 31, 1923, in Pulaski, Wisconsin to Peter and Catherine (Nowak) Czarapata. She graduated from Pulaski High School. After graduation she worked as a secretary at the high school.

Gene was united in marriage to Robert Jones on June 1, 1946, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Pulaski Wisconsin. They made their home in several towns through the years as Bob’s job for Green Giant transferred him, eventually moving them to Montgomery in 1964 where Gene remained until 2010.

Gene stayed home to raise and care for their four children until Bob’s death in 1971. She worked in the office at Green Giant until her retirement in 1987.

She loved playing cards, especially Bridge, doing crossword puzzles and baking treats for her grandchildren. But mostly she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Gene exhibited incredible grace throughout her life, accepting adversity without complaint. She was a woman of deep faith, kindness, wisdom, humor and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Gene is survived by her children; Cheryl Otting of Edina, Mary Ellen Vitello of Eagan and Patti (Jeff) Budin of Burnsville; four grandchildren, Matthew Vitello, Michael (Kallie) Budin, David Budin and Katie Budin; and one great grandchild, Olivia Budin.

Gene is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy and Isabelle; her husband, Bob Jones; son, Greg Jones; son-in-law, Larry Vitello; and grandson, Christopher Budin.

We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers; Bluestone Physicians, The Commons on Marice, Interim Healthcare and Brighton Hospice for their care and kindness shown during her seven-year battle with dementia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to a local food bank would be appreciated.
