Golf team holds invitational

Through puddles of water, soggy greens and cold temperatures, the TCU Golf Team held its invitational on Thursday, May 9 at the Montgomery National Golf Course.
With all of the golfers dressed in layers, winter hats, the Titans boys’ team finished in fourth place out of nine teams with 353 strokes. St. Peter won the meet with 315 strokes, followed by Jordan in second with a 332, and Waseca in third with a 344.
Adam Larson, the boys’ coach for TCU, thanked visiting schools, coaches, activity directors and newspaper reporters for letting the players dress up crazily and let the day run its course.
“It’s aways a pleasure to serve you all and we love having you come back each year,” he stated. “Your attitudes were appreciated and rubbed off on your players. The weather improved throughout the day and the pace of the play was amazing.”
TCU’s Josh LeBrun led the Titans with 85 strokes, followed by Matt Bartholomew who carded an 88. Austin Kristiansen scored an 89 for third place. Jacob Duque and Adam Henze tied for fourth place with 91 points each, and Chase Vargo took fifth with 94 for TCU.
Thomas Gutzmer from Jordan won the meet with 70 points.
The TCU girls team was incomplete with Jorgia Pumper and Rachael Paggen the only golfers. Pumper carded a 115 and Paggen scored a 133. Kylie Dunning from Le Sueur-Henderson won the girls’ competition with 83 strokes.
