Judith Ann Whipps, 81

Judith Ann Whipps, 81, of Le Center passed away at her home after a 3 year battle with ALS on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019. Visitation will be Saturday, March 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Le Center with services following at 2:30 p.m.

Judy was born on April 8, 1937, in Faribault to Clayton and Betty (Kotek) Janovsky. Judy was the 7th of 10 children. Judy attended St. Raphael’s Elementary School in Montgomery and graduated from Montgomery High School.

Judy was united in marriage to Eldon Whipps on June 11, 1955. Judy and Eldon farmed until 1963 when they moved into Le Center. Judy worked at the Montgomery Canning Company, Spors and Brinkton’s in Le Center, and the Le Sueur County Courthouse as a clerk to the Assessor’s office until she retired after 34 years.

Judy enjoyed hunting with her father and brothers growing up, fishing with Eldon, and playing cards with friends. Her hobbies were her flower garden, making quilts, sewing and doing genealogy of her family histories. Judy was also a member of the Le Center Woman’s Legion Auxiliary.

Judy is survived by her children, Karen (Mike) Henken of Le Center, George (Sharon) Whipps of Le Center; 6 Grandchildren, Mike, Shauna, Janna, Julie, Sandy, Michaela; 10 Great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rylee, Katie, Mason, Bradly, Georgie, Nox, Madilyn, Mari, and Xarier; sisters, Mary, Dorothy, and Diane; sister-in-law Lena Janovsky; brothers-in-law, Jim Whipps and Leo Kukucka.

Judy proceeded in death by her husband, Eldon; her parents, Clayton and Betty; and her siblings, Phylis, Jean, Sally, Kathleen, Jim, and Joe.
