MCF awards $1,800 in grants at Youth Baseball/Softball Night
The Montgomery Community Foundation (MCF) supported two local projects that are building a stronger community when it awarded two grants totally $1,800 on Friday night.
The first recipient was $800 to the local Girl Scouts for their Community Silver Garden project. The second was $1,000 to the Memorial Park Log Cabin Restoration Project.
According to the Foundation’s Vice Chair, Liz Krocak, both recipients applied to its grant program. She said the board chose them because each follows the Foundation’s mission statement of supporting projects and programs that build a stronger community.
“The Log Cabin Restoration Project meets our goal to preserve our town history,” Krocak said. “The Girl Scout Community Silver Garden project meets our goal to support youth in our community. Our purpose is to support what is good in our town. These are good things.”
The presentation of the two grants was made before the start of the Youth Baseball/Softball Night at Memorial Park. The annual summer event, which pits the Montgomery Mallards against the Lonsdale Aces, also recognized youth ball players in center field.
Kids are always free to Mallards’ home games, but last Friday, every kid in a jersey got in free, plus a free adult admission.
