Paveks named Kolacky Days Grand Marshals
Bob and Colleen Pavek have volunteered a lot in Montgomery since they came to town in 1986. They donated their time to Kolacky Days, the Miss Czech Slovak MN Pageant, Pioneer Power, Holy Redeemer, the ambulance, and they ran a business.
One more volunteer opportunity they will have will be at the 88th annual Kolacky Days on July 22, 23, and 24 when they will serve at its Grand Marshals.
The announcement was made by the Montgomery Area Community Club (MACC) at the ninth annual Meet and Greet on Monday, June 27 at Memorial Park.
Board member Jean Franke introduced the Paveks and explained that they’re joining an elite club of recognized Grand Marshals.
“When we look at Grand Marshals, we look at what they’ve done for Kolacky Days and the community as a whole. Since 1958 our Grand Marshals have been our go-getters and super volunteers. It’s a way of life for them,” Franke said. “The Paveks raised their four children here and were very involved in the community through their church, the ambulance crew, Miss Czech Slovak Pageant, and Pioneer Power. They gave a lot of time to Montgomery and Kolacky Days through volunteering.”
The MACC members also spoke about what to expect at this year’s festival. Jessica Westerman spoke about the schedule of events, and Dawn Anderson spoke about the Queen’s Pageant on July 22.
The current royalty spoke briefly about their year, and the five of the six candidates introduced themselves, their parents, and their Little Sister candidates.
