Swimmers see improvements in recent contests

The TCU Swim and Dive Team sent a small group of girls to the Mankato East Tom Johnson Cougar Relays event in Mankato last weekend.

According to Coach Kristen Munden, all races were swam in a relay format.

“The girls simply had fun! Some highlights were with our 3 by 100 IM relay where Ellie Sladek, Mallorie Plut, and Katie Bell each got to swim a 100 Individual Medley, which is not a normal race for a regular dual meet,” she said. “Another fun race was the Crescendo Relay - starting with Breanna Erickson swimming a 50 free, followed by Plut swimming a 100 free, Kendra Westphal swimming a 200 free, and anchor Makenna Streed swam her 500 free setting a new PR and almost beating the Owatonna relay, but beating the Faribault relay.”

Last week, the team competed against Albert Lea and finished with a 66-87 score. Despite losing, Munden called it a very competitive and fun meet.

Highlights were Mallorie Plut placing first place in the 200 IM, dropping another second and a half in the race.

Ella Schmiesing placed first in the 50 free, and Lily Traxler placed second in diving, followed by Kalee Barrington in third, and Kaylee Berger in fourth.
