Human remains found in a farm field

UPDATED INFORMATION 5-11-20

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office was able to determine the identity of the remains belonged to Manuel Ramirez, age 36, Kenyon.

On October 28, 2019, The Rice County Sheriff’s Office had taken a call of a vehicle that had crashed in a ditch/ravine near the area Mr. Ramirez’s body not was found. No one was inside the vehicle at the time. Deputies and Investigators had searched the area on different occasions with no success finding Mr. Ramirez.

Investigators followed up on other possible leads of Mr. Ramirez’s whereabouts both within and outside the jurisdiction of Rice County. None of these leads led investigators to Mr. Ramirez’s location.

The cause of Mr. Ramirez’s death is still under investigation.

A farmer was planting beans in his field at the curve on Kane Trail and Lamb Ave in Northfield Township and found the remains of a body in the grassy area separating farm field, according to Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn.

Foul play is not suspected.

The remains have been sent to Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.

The case remains under investigation with the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were assisted by the Rice County Coroner’s Office.
