Adapted floor hockey heading to state
The Trojans will be heading to the Adapted Floor Hockey State Tournament this weekend which will be held at Bloomington Jefferson High School on Friday and Saturday, March 18 and 19. The local team is made up of students from New Prague, Tri-City United, Belle Plaine and Jordan high schools.
The floor hockey team finished the regular season with a record of 7 wins and 0 losses. The Trojans scored 79 goals in those 7 games and only gave up 10 goals all season. The Trojans won the southern conference and were given an automatic bid to the state tournament.
“We have had a lot of time to practice and prepare for the upcoming state tournament, we haven't seen game action since Wednesday, Feb. 23,” said head coach Jeremy Kalal. “We've been practicing hard and scrimmaging as many teams as possible to get us ready for the state tournament.”
“We will open the state tournament on Friday, March 18, at 8 p.m. against South Washington, the fourth seed,” said Kalal. South Washington finished the year 2-5. Kalal noted their team beat them 12-1, earlier this season. “We played our JV team for half the game against them,” he said. “If we are able to beat South Washington on Friday night, we will play two games on Saturday, March 19.
