Gerald Francis Kovarik, 79

Gerald Francis Kovarik, age 79, of Lonsdale, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 25^, 2023.

He is survived by his five children: Julie Kovarik (fiancé Dennis Tikalsky) of Hackensack, Ann Kovarik of Montgomery, Crystal (Richard) Shetka of Faribault, Sarria (Mitch) Green of Hopkins and Christopher Kovarik of St. Paul; five grandchildren: Nikitta (Cole) Mason, Cody Shetka, Brandon Klonne, Oscar and Roy Green, one great-grandson, Waylon Mason; brother Richard (Connie) Kovarik.

He served in the Navy on the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier and the Enterprise Aircraft Carrier in 1961-1966.  He was a member of the local 160 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for many years and was proud of his profession.

He loved spending time with his family and friends sharing stories as a lineman, being in the military, along with his renditions of fishing and hunting stories.  As he got older, he enjoyed driving around his favorite lakes with his dog, Shadow, watching his bird feeders, and making sure not to miss any family gatherings.

His sense of humor, feisty attitude and his wittiness will surely be missed by those that knew him.

A private burial will be held at Fort Snelling for the family to honor his life of service in the military and a celebration of his life with family and friends will be held at a later time.
