Lucille R. Nelson, 96

Lucille R. Nelson, age 96, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  Lucille was born on September 13, 1923 in St. Thomas, MN to Frank and Gertrude A. (Benzick) Ginter.  She was raised in the St. Thomas/Lexington area, attended country school for a short time, then St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, and graduated with the class of 1941 from New Prague High School.  Lucille married Clyde C. Nelson on May 18, 1946 at St. Wenceslaus Church and the couple made their home in New Prague, where they raised their four children.  Lucille was the smiling, friendly telephone operator at Eckles Telephone Company for over 40 years.  She was an avid reader and letter writer.  She began writing to a pen pal in England when she was in high school and that relationship continued for over 60 years.  She presently corresponds with her friend’s daughter.  Lucille loved Christmas, kept a tree in her home year around, and even today, had all her Christmas presents for this year wrapped and labeled for the family that was her world!

 Lucille is survived by her children, Kristine (Bob) Theis of Jordan, Jerry Nelson of Hastings, Jim (Jan) Nelson of Jackson, MI, Tracy (Rick) Lambrecht of Apache Junction, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde on November 20, 2006; parents; brother, Jerome Ginter.

 Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Reverend Diane Goulson officiating.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 10:00 AM.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the Legion Clubroom. bruzekfuneralhome.com
