Montgomery moves into second place in DRS League Iverson hits four home runs for Mallards

Montgomery Mallard Ryan Iverson blasted four home runs and knocked in 10 runs in the Mallard’s 22- 18 DRS Baseball League win over Veseli Sunday, June 26.

The game featured nine total home runs. Matt Friedges had three hits, including two home runs, scored four runs, and knocked in seven for Veseli. Also hitting a home run for the Warriors was Matt Perkinson. Luke Shepard and Riley Schaeffer each added three hits.

Tom Flicek and Tyler Bednar hit long balls for the Mallards. Derek Christenson pitched the final five innings in relief for the win.

The victory was one of two last week for the Mallards, who have moved into second place in the DRS League with a 10-6 record. Montgomery defeated Union Hill, 14-6, Friday, June 24.

Johnny Krocak pitched first seven innings, allowing five hits, four walks, and striking out seven. Ted Christian pitched the final two innings and allowed six runs on four hits.

Five different pitchers took the mound for the Bulldogs. Jack Kreutzian was charged with the loss, allowing four runs in 1 2/.3 innings.

Krocak, Flicek, and Dawson Pint had two hits for the Mallards. Kyle Hintz led the team with three hits and a pair of RBI.

Joe Becker had three hits, three RBI, and a home run and Nathan Osborne had two hits and a home run for Union Hill.

Jack Becker hit a home run for the Bulldogs in their 11-4 win over Shakopee Tuesday, June 21. Charlie Otteson got the win and Sam Novak the save.

In other DRS League games Wednesday, June 22, Prior Lake defeated Webster, 4-2, and New Market downed Montgomery, 13-0 in seven innings. Cole Pint had two hits for the Mallards.

St. Patrick defeated Veseli, 11-5, Thursday, June 23. Ben Tupy made his amateur baseball debut on the mound and earned the victory, pitching six innings and striking out seven. Phillip Garcia struck out three in relief.

Ben Tacdahl led the Irish offense with three hits. five RBI, including a three-run homer. Jack Friedges and Ryan Friedges each added three hits.

Matt Perkinson took the loss off the mound for Veseli. Matt Friedges and Mason Mayer each collected two hits.

Games Friday, June 24 included New Market downing St. Benedict, 10-0 in seven innings and Faribault shutting out Shakopee, 16-0, in seven innings. Games Sunday, June 26 included Webster knocking off Shakopee, 8-1, St. Patrick downing New Prague, 7-2, and St. Benedict defeating Prior Lake, 12-2.

In St. Patrick’s win, Collin Denk went seven innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs on three hits. Trevor Divinski pitched the final two innings.

The Irish were led by Ryan Friedges with three hits, two RBI, and two runs scored. Seth Ambroz also added two hits.

Ben Buthe, James Fuerniss, and Jake Deustch had hits for the Orioles and Spencer Kajer and Cam Prochaska knocked in runs. Jame Fuerniss took the loss, pitching four innings.

Andrew Huss had three hits and six RBI for the Saints in the win over Prior Lake. Jeremy Heitkamp allowing three hits in five innings. Matthias Duevel allowed two runs on two hits in the final two innings.

St. Patrick has now won nine straight games and leads the league with a 10-2 record. Montgomery is 10-6, New Prague 8-5, Faribault 6-5, and Union Hill 7-6 to round out the top five.

The second half of the standings include Webster and St. Benedict at 7-7, Lonsdale 5-9, Prior Lake 5-10, Veseli 2-10, and Shakopee 1-14
