Stanley Ben Barta, 88

Stanley Ben Barta, 88, of Montgomery, passed away at The Villages of Lonsdale on Thursday, May 3, 2018, surrounded by his family. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with visitation one hour prior at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. 
 
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Interment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery. Father Victor Valencia and Father George Grafsky will be officiating.
 
Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
 
Stan was born on November 4, 1929, in Wheatland Township in Rice County to Ben A. and Anna (Schoenbauer) Barta. Stan attended Wheatland Country School and Immaculate Conception Parochial School. 
Stan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant. He was stationed at Fort Ripley in Kansas. Stan attended GI Ag. School in Jordan and was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Tupy on June 25, 1955 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli.
 
Stan was a registered Holstein Dairy Farmer, along with being a beef/crop farmer all of his life. Stan was involved in the following organizations: Grand Knight of the Montgomery Knights of Columbus, Montgomery American Legion, Montgomery American Legion Honor Guard, Montgomery VFW, President of Rice County DHIA, Northfield Rice Holstein Club, Most Holy Redeemer Parish Council, and Most Holy Redeemer School Board. 
 
Stan enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and raising English Shepherd dogs.
 
Stan is survived by his wife, Ruth Marie Barta; children, Allan (Gail) Barta of Eagan, David (Lucy) of New Prague, Monica (Ken) Odenthal of New Prague, Anita (Chuck) Rynda of Montgomery, and Paula (Todd) Novak of Montgomery; grandchildren, Michael Meschke, Mark Rynda (Daniel), Megan (Tim) Brockway, Emily Barta, Chris (Nicole) Meschke, Carrie Rynda, Maggie (Andrew) Nicolin, and Daniel Barta (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Luke Brockway and Joe Brockway; siblings, Mary Ann Maruska of New Prague, and Ann (Marvin) Schaak of New Prague.
 
Stan is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Angie Havlicek, Ben T. Barta and Adeline in infancy.
