St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church’s Annual Soup Supper was held for its 32nd time Monday, Feb 16. Over the years it has raised several thousands of dollars for groups that help the less fortunate.
Norb Sticha, who has been the coordinator of the soup supper since 2012, said it was safe to say the event has raised $5,000 a year with an estimated $160,000 being raised over the 32 years. Added to that total is a $600 matching grant, Sticha said. The funds are donated to Sharing & Caring Hands in Minneapolis. Based on early estimates it looks like it will be another successful year, said Sticha.
Sticha has been among several individuals who have been involved with the soup supper all 32 years.
“I was raised with a Catholic tradition of being called to serve and my faith being a huge motivator,” said Sticha about why he continues to help with the soup supper.
