Marilyn A. Hudspeth, age 71, of New Prague, died peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marilyn was born on October 23, 1946 in Algona, Iowa, to Le Roy and Alma (Grandgenett) Stoffel. She graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School and following business school, worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She married Thomas A. Hudspeth on June 14, 1969 at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Algona and the couple eventually settled in New Prague.  Marilyn was an active member in St.

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Bisek, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System New Prague.  Betty was born on June 2, 1932 in Wheatland Township, Rice County, to George T. and Mayme B. (Tupy) Sevcik.  She  attended elementary school in Lonsdale and graduated from Montgomery High School.  Betty married Henry R. Bisek on October 18, 1952 at St.

Gary Dewayne Hughes, July 14,1941 – July 31, 2018.
It is with great sorrow the family announces his passing following an extensive battle with cancer. Born to Loren and Grayce Hughes, he lived on his family farm in Osakis, MN.  Gary graduated High School in 1959. Joined the Air Force in 1961, where he spent three years in Germany.  He returned stateside, moved to New Prague, MN and married Betty (Victorine) Glattly in 1976 and raised their 5 children.

Edith Ousky, age 94, of New Prague, died peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Edith was born on February 26, 1924 in Tyler, MN to Nels and Marie (Johansen) Sorensen.  She graduated from Tyler High School and married Frank R.

Rueben R. Honza, age 88 of New Prague, died peacefully, with his family at his side on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Rueben was born on February 8, 1930 in Lanesburgh Township to Rudolf and Ottlina (Schlauderaff) Honza.  After graduating from New Prague High School, Rueben entered the US Navy, for which he served both actively and in the reserves.  He married Bernice A.

Sally A. Schmid, age 78, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, August 10, 2018, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, MN.  Sally was born on April 29, 1940 in New Prague to Benedict J. and Katharine (Heinen) Bruzek.  She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, graduated from New Prague High School, and attended the University of Minnesota before finishing her education at the Minnesota School of Business.  She worked as a secretary for a Medical Lab for a short time before marriage.  She married Eugene C. Schmid, Jr. on May 26, 1962 at St.

Irene B. Puncochar, age 91, of Adams, formerly of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side, on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Adams Assisted Living.  Irene was born on June 29, 1927 to James and Bohumila (Pecka) Svoboda.  She married Edwin C. Puncochar on October 19, 1946 in New Prague and the couple made their home in New Prague, where they raised their three children. Irene worked for many years at MVE and at the Park Ballroom.  Irene was the ultimate people-person; she loved and was loved by everyone she met.

Elizabeth “Betty” Halloran, 89 of Belle Plaine, died peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Monday, July 23, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 30, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. and one our prior to the Mass at church. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN. Lunch to follow at church social hall.

Joyce Kathleen (Pladson) Fadden, age 85, of New Prague died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.  Joyce was born at her grandparents’ home in Lowry, MN on July 22, 1933 to Oscar A. and Hazel M. (Hagstrom) Pladson.  Joyce grew up in Brandon, MN where her dad and uncle, Leo Smedstad, owned and operated the Brandon Meat Market.  She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon.
After graduating from Brandon High School, Joyce attended nursing school in Fargo, ND, graduating in 1954.

Henry, Lester C., age 89 of Lakeville, MN passed away on July 19th, 2018. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Alice Marie Henry, parents; Herman and Minnie Henry; 6 sisters, Myrtle Sorensen, Hazel Tonsager, Verna Blesner, Mable Lovejoy Peters, Ida Madson and Lillian Erickson, and 2 brothers, Wallace and Robert Henry
Lester loved farming, fishing, vacationing, and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked many years for UBC lumber company in Lakeville as well as farming.  

Germscheid, John G., age 84, of Coon Rapids, formerly of Le Center, passed away July 24, 2018. Preceded in death by parents, Gertrude and Raymond; brother, Richard; brother-in-law, Mike Hanlon. Survived by wife of 62 years, Donna; children, Steven (Michele), Vincent (Lynn), Lisa (Peter) Siddons, Allen (Lori), Warren (Lisa); 16 grandchildren; sister, Mary Agnes Hanlon; brothers, Eugene (Elaine), Karl (Sandra); sister-in-law, Anne Germsheid; nieces & nephews; other relatives and friends.

Ruth Ann Doherty, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.  Ruth Ann was born on May 15, 1923 in Morgan, Minnesota to Albert C. and Ursula (Braunger) Fischer.  She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from Morgan High School before going on to beauty school.  She opened her own salon, Ruth Ann’s, in Morgan, married Elmer M. Doherty on January 13, 1945 in Morgan, and remained in Morgan while her husband served in WWII.  After Elmer completed his military service, the couple moved to New Prague, where Dr.

Leonard P. Eischens, age 92, of St. Benedict, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home.  Leonard was born on September 1, 1925 in Helena Township to Adam M. and Ruth (Beckius) Eischens.  He was raised in the St. Benedict area, where he attended country school and graduated from New Prague High School.  He entered the U.S. Army, served in WWII, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He married Verna A. Giesen on September 5, 1959 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Union Hill and the couple made their home on a farm west of St.

Lillian J. “Lil” Tate, age 83, of New Prague, died suddenly but peacefully with her daughters at her side on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.  Lil was born on June 1, 1935 in Cedar Lake Township to Joseph A. and Ludmilla A.

Rosemary DeGonda, 89, of Bloomington died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Friendship Village in Bloomington. Mass of Christian burial was held at Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 11:00 am with Fr. Bill Murtaugh presiding. Burial was at Fort Snelling, after the luncheon. Visitation was one hour prior to Mass at church.
Rosemary was born in New Prague, the daughter of John A Bednar and Agnes (Bruzek) Bednar. Both parents were of Czech descent. She had an older sister Edyth, all are deceased.

Richard “Dick” Houle passed away unexpectedly on his 83rd birthday, July 3, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, in Minneapolis, MN. He was a resident of Prior Lake, MN.
