Adeline Flicek Kennedy, 91

Adeline Flicek Kennedy, 91, passed away in Port Angeles, Washington on October 16, 2018.  She was born May 27, 1927 in Wheatland Township, Minnesota, the only daughter of John C Flicek and Elizabeth Dvorak.  She married Vincent Kennedy in 1946 in New Prague, Minnesota.

A long-time resident of Utah, (1948-2016), Adeline was a dedicated homemaker.  She was also an active member of St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s and Holy Family Catholic Churches, where she was Chairman of Catholic Charities and a board member of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD).  She always gave generously of her time and talents and was a tireless volunteer in many activities: her children’s school activities, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts/Brownies, March of Dimes and Heart Fund and Primary Children’s Hospital Drives, Catholic Foreign Mission Relief, local food/goods collections and deliveries, Communion Ministry, Altar Society, Eucharistic Devotion and a Prayer Chain.  If anyone at all needed prayers or whatever help she could give, Adeline gave it with her whole heart and both hands.

Adeline loved to play games, especially card games.  She belonged to several card clubs and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and the challenge.  She also loved to travel and to visit.  The highlight of her travels in Europe with her grandson was an audience with Pope John Paul II.  She made friends easily and maintained a lively correspondence with friends and family all over the world.  Her “just maybe someday” desire was to visit the International Space Station and she kept an eye on its history and activity.

In 2016, Adeline moved to Sequim, Washington to live with her daughter Margaret.

Adeline is survived by five children: Margaret (Don) Williams, Elizabeth (Dave) Knight, Jerry (Jan) Kennedy, John Kennedy, and Paul Kennedy.  She is survived by 11 grandchildren: Bill (Miho)Mahler, Cynthia (Bob) Taylor, Carol Williams, Chad Knight, Krista Knight, Brandon (Natalie) Olsen, Amy Kennedy, Melissa (Alexus) Kennedy, Zak Kennedy, Christopher Kennedy, and Kenda Kennedy.  She had 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent (1919-1992), son Michael (1967-2018), her parents (in 1985), and her three brothers: Jerry (in 2004), John (in 2002) and Emil (in 1987) Flicek.
