Agnes Gill, 91

Agnes Gill, of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loving family as she transitioned to heaven to be with her beloved husband Alois.

Agnes was born in Maple Lake on November 29, 1927 to John and Clara (Klanke) Callahan. She attended Le Sueur School and at 19 married Alois Gill on February 14, 1946 in a double wedding with her sister at St. Thomas Catholic Church.  She was a woman of faith and was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, where she rarely missed Mass. She and Alois raised their family in St. Thomas and together they enjoyed socializing with family and neighbors, dancing in Heidelberg, playing cards, having good times and laughs. She was a traditional homemaker and also worked seasonally for Green Giant during harvest and for MRE in Le Sueur. Agnes always had a pot of coffee on and many visitors would drop in to see her, where she’d eagerly offer them a full meal. She always wanted to know what everyone was up to so she wouldn’t miss anything. She always had CNN on and was a big fan of Larry King. Agnes took in many stray cats over the years and had a special love for the family dogs. She liked playing slots at the casino, dinner at Pizza Ranch, and gummy bears. Agnes had a kind heart and soul and will be missed by many as she was so very loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alois, and sisters Margarite Laban and Bertha Meger.

Agnes is survived by her children, Jerry (Sue) of Belle Plaine, Mary (Joe) Giesen of Belle Plaine, Mike of St. Thomas, Patrick (JoAnne) of Chaska, Joe of St. Thomas; Grandchildren, Jason, Joe Jr., Jennifer, Dustin and Jack; 8 Great Grandchildren; Brother, John (Jean) Callahan of St. Thomas; Sisters-in-law Rosie, Maryann and Betty and brother-in-law Joe; Many Nieces & Nephews; Pet cats and dogs Pancho & Molly.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 1, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Thomas.  Fr. Roger Hessian will officiate.  Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday, June 30 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue at the church Monday morning from 9-10:30 A.M.  Interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in St. Thomas.  A luncheon will immediately follow the graveside service at St. Anne’s School in Le Sueur. Special thank you of appreciation to the caring and kind staff at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
