Alan Borgen, 67

Alan Borgen, age 67 of New Prague, MN passed away on September 19, 2022 after a 2 year battle with neuroendocrine cancer. He was born September 25, 1954 in Minneapolis, MN to Alfred and Orpha (Knutson) Borgen. As a child, Al loved playing trucks and taking naps, which he never grew out of. Some of his favorite memories include tinkering in the garage and spending time with friends and family.

Al married Kathy in 1979, starting their family in Bloomington, MN. He began his truck driving career, which he continued for 40 years. They moved to New Prague, MN to enjoy country living. He lived there for 30 years, enjoying the 5 acres of ‘storage space’ for all of his automotive finds. Al will be remembered as the Pepsi drinking, sunflower seed spitting, movie quote reciting, car loving family man who would do anything to make others smile.

Even in his last days of consciousness, he wiped the tears of friends and family saying their goodbyes and instead made them smile, laugh, and reminisce.  Cancer may have taken his body, but it couldn’t take away his memories, sense of humor, or his kind and loving heart.

Al is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; children, Nicole (Josh) Saatzer, Cory (Jason) Blauvelt, and Cody Borgen; 7 grandchildren; 5 siblings; his mother Orpha Radford and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Alfred Borgen and stepfather Daniel Radford.

Al loved celebrating his birthday, so his celebration of life will be held on what would have been his 68th birthday, September 25th. The service will be at 2:00 pm at Mount Hope Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN, with the celebration following the service at Applewood Pointe of Bloomington, MN.
