Baseball team wins 3 of 4 games

The New Prague Trojan baseball team won three of four games last week, upping their season record to 5-2 (2- 1 Wright County Conference).

New Prague defeated Waconia, Northfield and Delano, but lost to Holy Family Catholic last week. Their game at Delano scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, was postponed to May 10.

New Prague hosts Orono on Thursday, May 2, and travels to Rochester for games against John Marshall and Mayo high schools Saturday, May 4. They are at Hutchinson Tuesday, May 7, and host Waconia at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9.

Trojans 4, Wildcats 3 A Jake Deutsch single in the fifth inning gave New Prague a 4-3 win over Waconia Tuesday, April 23, in a Wright County Conference baseball game.

The hit completed a comeback as the Wildcats had scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. New Prague got on the board in the third when Collin Dorzinski walked, stole second and scored on a base hit by Drew Picka.

They added two more without a hit as Bryce Johnson and Joe Becker scored thanks to three errors by Waconia.

In the fifth, Dorzinski reached on an error and again stole second. He scored on a two-out single by Deutsch.

"We capitalized on the Waconia errors and did a good job of competing every at-bat to put pressure on their defense," Coach Tanner Oakes said.
