Boys lacrosse wins 2 of 3

The New Prague Trojan boys lacrosse team won its debut match Tuesday, April 16, defeating Southwest Christian of Chaska 9-3. They followed with an 11-6 loss to Waconia on Thursday, April 18, and a one-goal win over Chaska Monday, April 22.

New Prague was scheduled to host Owatonna Tuesday, April 23. They will host Mankato on Friday, April 26, at 5 p.m. and Waconia on Monday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m.

Trojans 9, Stars 3 “One of my priorities for this season was to have 10 or more players to get 10 or more goals,” Coach Dylan Dickey said after his team’s opening day 9-3 win against Southwest Christian in New Prague.

“The idea is to have multiple threats. We opened up the season with just that as eight different players scored the nine goals, with scoring being balanced evenly between our attack and midfielders.”

Sophomore attackman Carson Sayler found twine on two shots, being the only multiple point Trojan on the day. The defense controlled well in transition and settled situations, limiting the Stars to only three goals, all coming in the first half. After a 3- 3 half-time score, the Trojans had six unanswered goals in the second half.

Wildcats 11, Trojans 6 This was the first “varsity” level competition for New Prague, and it came between two first-year Wright County Conference programs.
