Boys track 5th at Orono

The Trojan boys track team competed at the Orono Invitational Thursday, May 2, placing fifth of eight teams.

"The team made progress today and we were able to set a bunch of personal records," Coach Nick Meyer said. "The guys competed hard, and we are happy with their efforts. Today is a good reminder that even in the course of an 18- event competition of a track meet, every point counts. We came up just short of conference rival Orono, a team that we topped a few weeks ago. We are about to enter championship season next week with the True Team Section 1AAA meet, and we will be ready. We’ll learn from today and we’ll be better when it counts most."

Waconia won the meet with 148.5 points. Willmar was close behind at 142, followed by Orono (113), St. Louis Park (104.5), New Prague (104), Fridley (40), Dassel-Cokato (26) and Southwest Christian (17).

The Trojans had just one first-place finish, Adam Brandt in the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 42.65 seconds. But they had four second place finishes, each of whom placed in several events, including relays. Jake Lee had a productive day, taking second in the.....
