Carole Jean (Warmelin) Janke, 78

Carole Jean (Warmelin) Janke, 78, beloved mother and grandma, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in Jordan, Minnesota after an ongoing battle with brain cancer. Carole was born to Lawrence and Leota Warmelin in St Paul, Minnesota on May 26, 1944. Carole was the tomboy of their four daughters. She enjoyed playing softball and hated wearing dresses. Carole graduated from Robbinsdale High School. Her professions included hairdresser, soldering circuit boards, and working for several decades in nursing homes.

Carole’s dream of owning a white horse was realized when she lived on her farm in Henderson, Minnesota. Carole lived most of her life in Minnesota.  She also lived briefly in Oklahoma after following her son there. She spent ten of her last years living in New Prague, Minnesota close to her family and was often seen walking for miles around town and shopping in thrift stores.

Carole had a heart for sharing how the Lord turned her life around. She reminisced about her time volunteering in the women’s prison ministry. Carole was very proud of her son and grandsons. She treasured the time she spent with them and taught all three how to throw a football.

Carole’s interests included sports cars, going for walks, mowing the lawn, thrift store shopping, encouraging others with cards, and spending time with family.

Carole is survived by her son, Troy (Jenna) Janke; grandsons Noah and Micah Janke; and sisters Lauren (Marlyn) Hempel and Lynn (Brad) Bangtson. She is preceded in death by sister Judy (Tommy) Thompson and parents Lawrence and Leota Warmelin.

Carole will be buried beside her mother and extended family in Willow Lake, South Dakota.
