Chad M. Solheid, 51

Chad M. Solheid, age 51, of Minneapolis, died unexpectedly after a brief illness, on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Hennepin County Medical Center.  Chad was born on June 28,  1971, in New Prague to David J. and Judith A. (Fitzke) Solheid.  He graduated from New Prague High School and attended Mankato State College.  Chad worked as a general manager and executive chef in the restaurant industry throughout his life.  He was a member of the National Small Business Advisory Board, National Restaurant Association, Chamber of Commerce, and the Franchise Advisory Board.  He received many awards throughout his career, in both training and management, including Famous Dave’s Rookie Franchise of the Year Award in Michigan and creating a wine list that was recognized in the “Wine Spectators” Top 100 Issue.  A quiet and private man, his greatest joy came in helping those less fortunate by cooking at a homeless shelter, sharing his talents in creating healthy meals for the homeless.  In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycling and shooting pool on a Friday with his brother.

 Chad is survived by his father, Dave (Rosemary) Solheid of Norwood Young America; brothers, Brad Solheid (fiancé, Melanie Zakariasen) of Anoka and Greg Solheid of Savage; sister, Michelle (Andrew) Trcka of Montgomery; nieces & nephews.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Londyn, at age 2; mother, Judy.

 A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home (610 E. Main St., New Prague, MN 56071) with MaryCarol Wolf officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will occur at St. John’s Cemetery in Union Hill at a later date.
