Community enjoys scaled down celebration with Nožinky

Area residents were able to enjoy a community gathering with food and entertainment, although in a different way. Nozinky took the place of Dozinky during this year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Food trucks and music were offered on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 16 and 17, in Memorial Park. A virtual Talent Show and Kolacky Eating Contest were held on Saturday, Sept. 19. On Sunday, Sept. 20, the Chamber held the judging for the Yard Decorating Contest with the theme Dozinky Through the Ages.

“I was very happy with our Nožínky in the Park event last week,” said New Prague Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Brooke Sticha. “While smaller in scale, it gave our community members a chance to safely enjoy local entertainment and the popular food trucks that are available at Dožínky every year.”

Jessica Dohm of New Prague was with her daughter Soumya at Memorial Park on September 16 enjoying shakes from one of the vendors. “So far, so good, I found out about it on Facebook. I thought we would stop by because its’s a nice afternoon,” said Jessica.
