Elizabeth “Betty” Halloran, 89 of Belle Plaine, died peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Monday, July 23, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, July 30, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home on Sunday, July 29, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. and one our prior to the Mass at church. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN. Lunch to follow at church social hall.
She was born to Paul and Agnes (Kreitz) Schultz on Juno Ave in St Paul on May 7, 1929. She grew up in St Paul and attended the College of St Catherine/St Joseph’s Hospital Nursing School. She graduated as an RN in 1951.
She married John Halloran in 1952 and moved to Belle Plaine Township where they farmed and raised 5 children. Betty worked 50 years at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague. For many of those years she worked as “Charge Nurse” on the nite shift. She lovingly cared for many neighbors and friends over the years and helped deliver many babies. She very much enjoyed her years of nursing and the friends she made with patients and especially her coworkers.
She and John were happily married for 66 years. They enjoyed traveling with friends. Betty especially loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, John, and their children; Gertrude Jensen, Timothy (Sue) Halloran, Terrance (Dawn) Halloran, Brigid (Tom) Altman and Barbara Halloran. She has 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Rebecca (Jeff) Glynn, Mary (Adrian) Bahr, Joseph (Alison) Fogarty, Jason Fogarty, James (Jessica) Fogarty, Erin (special friend, Daniel) Halloran, Brian (special friend, Emily), Camille Halloran, Rachel (special friend, Jake) Halloran, Jeremy (special friend, Kelly) Halloran, Tanya Halloran, Anna Altman, Marie (David) Flores, Ben (Mona) Altman, Katherine (Charlie) Montenegro, Travis Hobbs, Elizabeth (Lalo) Respicio, Kenny (special friend, Alex) Hobbs
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Agnes Schultz, sister Gertrude and brother Leonard.
