John J. Pexa, 62

John J. Pexa, age 62, of Lakeville, died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Friday, December 13, 2024, at M. Health Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis. John was born on January 6, 1962, in New Prague, to George and Rosemary (Winter) Pexa. He graduated from New Prague High School and farmed the family farm in Prior Lake. After farming, he found a job in lawn and landscaping, with Nature’s Way Lawn Service. He was able to work outdoors, which is where he loved to be. He had a knack for being able to cut and drop the trickiest of trees.

John was one of the happiest souls. He loved bringing laughter and smiles to whomever was around.  He had the biggest heart and never turned away from helping anyone. He would give the shirt off his back if he had to. John loved to play cards. He loved to play at parties with friends and family, Shanghai games at any family get together and he was always up for a good game of Poker. He always enjoyed fishing and being on the lake. John was famous for making the best ham that he would bring to all the family’s holiday celebrations.  Despite sharing his recipe, no one could ever make one taste as good!  While he really enjoyed his Diet Pepsi, his grandchildren were still number one.  They brought him so much joy and fulfillment.  His daughter’s dog, Nala and he became best friends.  She was the first one he would greet when he came home with his “Nala, Nala, Nala!” He enjoyed getting to sneak her all the treats. John’s smile, his kind and caring manner and his joy of life has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his children, Jolene Robertson (Ron Hendrickson) of Prior Lake, Jesse (Becky) Pexa of Clever, Missouri, Angela Kajer of Lonsdale, Kelly Pexa (Mike Rhein) of Lakeville;  grandchildren, Lana, Landen, Kaylyn, Ben, Lillian, Violet, Madalaine, Alice, Odin, Leif, Ever & Lucas;  siblings, Debbie Tonkin of Prior Lake, Mike (Mary) Pexa of New Prague, Kathy (Mike) Kreuser of Jordan, Marge (Jim) Shimota of Prior Lake, Diana (Paul) Schoenbauer of Prior Lake.  He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jon Tonkin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date after January 1, 2025.
