New Prague hoops team continuing to improve

The New Prague girls basketball team continues to improve while still looking for its first win.

Delano edged the Trojans, 59-50, Tuesday, Feb. 16. Holy Family pulled out a 75--68 win Friday, Feb. 19.

New Prague is 0-9 in the Wright County Conference and 0-11 overall. They will play at Waconia Friday, Feb. 26 and at Mound Westonka Tuesday, March 2.

In the Delano game, four players scored more than seven points, led by Hannah Wedeking with 15 points. Hannah Langberg scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Avery Hennen added nine points and Payton Morris added seven points.

“We fell behind early tonight but then battled back and trailed by only three at halftime.The second half was back and forth with Delano making a few more plays than we did. I did not think we executed our press tonight, giving up too many transition points,” head coach Eric Specht said. “Offensively, we had opportunities tonight to put up more points. I’m excited to see how we respond the next time we play Delano.”
