New Prague runners enjoy solid showing at Mustang Stampede
New Prague High School’s cross-country runners are continuing to hone their skills in preparation for the big meets late in the season.
After hosting its lone home meet of the season Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park, the Trojans will be at Owatonna Thursday, Oct. 5, 4 p.m., and Jordan High School Tuesday, Oct. 10, 4 p.m.
Girls take fifth The NPHS girls finished fifth in the 11-team race Saturday, Sept. 23, at Chippewa Middle School in Mounds in Mounds View.
Senior Sophie Baker paced the Trojans with a 21st-place finish in 20:44 – her best time in a 5K race. Paige Swanepoel finished 26th in 20:53 while Grace Carlson finished 43rd with a personal-best time of 21:13. Emily Giesen finished 37th for the Trojans. Her time was 21:54. Claire Erickson finished 38th in 21:55 for New Prague.
The Trojans’ Alaina Bishop finished 48th in 22:21. Cora Schuller finished 49th in 22:35 and Ingrid Amberson was 53rd in 22:46.
Eagan posted the top team score at 47. The Wildcats had three runners finish in the top nine. Blake finished second at 57 and Eden Prairie was third with 67. Legacy Academy finished with 77, followed by New Prague at 150. Redwood Valley (173), Concordia Academy-Roseville (231), Mt. Lake Comfrey (240), Visitation (248), Hill-Murray (249) and Minneapolis Roosevelt (278) filled out the field.
