For NP boys’ soccer team, the time has arrived
With 15 returning letter-winners and a core of players who have shined on the state and premiere levels during summer programs, the New Prague High School boys’ soccer team is looking to take the next step in its growth.
With 13 seniors and five juniors on the roster, the Trojans want to erase the sting of last year’s sectional final loss.
“We’ve seen this coming for a couple of years,” said coach Cam Stoltz.
A year ago, the Trojans finished at 8-8-3. This year’s group has loftier goals. So far, it has enjoyed wins over Marshall, Mankato West and Hutchinson/Glencoe-Silver Lake. The team’s lone setback came at Worthington.
New Prague was slated to host Watertown-Mayer Tuesday, Sept. 5, after The New Prague Times went to press. Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 7, 5 p.m., the Trojans will host undefeated Orono. Saturday, Sept. 9, noon, New Prague will travel to Rosemount for a match before Tuesday’s Sept. 12, 7 p.m., clash at Chanhassen.
