Richard Hugh Lewis, 80

Richard Hugh Lewis, 80, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Spanish Meadows Assisted Living, Brownsville, TX. Dick was born on January 16, 1941 in Lakota, Iowa, son of the late Hugh and Carmen Lewis.

Dick served in the United States Air Force for 22 years before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming. During his service he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/6 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Longevity Medal with 4/olc, the Air Force Outstanding Unit award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, PME Graduation Ribbon, Senior Missileman Badge, Presidential Unit Citation and the Air Force Commendation Medal w/1olc.  Dick served tours of duty in Thailand & the Azores.

  In 1985 he moved to Minnesota and settled on Lake Francis in Elysian. He married Carolyn Gunton-Lewis in 1989. Together they were Owner/Brokers of Century 21 Lake Region Realty in Elysian for more than 30 years.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed teaching his children, grandsons, nephews and nieces the joys of hunting, fishing and exploring outdoors.  Dick and Carolyn also enjoyed traveling together and made many globe crossing trips with their dear friends.  Dick and Carolyn shared a love of dogs and enjoyed Labradors and German Shepherds in particular. In 2019, Dick & Carolyn purchased a winter home in Texas, where they spent winters enjoying the warm weather together.

Dick is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Carolyn.  He is survived by his son, David Lewis; his wife Stacey Lewis; their children, Tyler and Ryan Lewis, his daughter Pamela Lewis & his brothers Frank and Virgil Lewis and his first wife Sharon Lewis.

In memory of Dick, donations may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church, Eagle Lake, MN.

A memorial service honoring Dick and Carolyn will be held on Sunday, May 23 at the city park in Elysian by lake Francis from 12:00-3:00
