Ruth A. Giesen, 75

Ruth A. Giesen, age 75, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side at home on Christmas Day, 2020.  Ruth was born on May 23, 1945 in Hutchinson, MN to Ignatius and Caroline (Wosmek) Kaminski.  She grew up in Silver Lake, graduating from Silver Lake High School in 1963.  She married the love of her life, John P. Giesen on August 24, 1973 in Union Hill, where they raised their two children.  Ruth worked at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee for 33 years, retiring in 2014.  Ruth was an enthusiastic and faithful member of the Union Hill Choir.  Her greatest joy came in spending time with her grandchildren.  She could also be found in her garden and in the quiet moments, avidly reading, mostly mysteries and suspense novels.  She will be sorely missed by her family and her many nieces and nephews, to whom she was very close.

 Ruth is survived by her loving husband, John of New Prague; son, Jim (Tina) Giesen of Owatonna; daughter, Jean (Steve) Granowski of Montgomery; grandchildren, Shelby Boehmke (fiancé, Jeffrey Hartman), Trevor Twite (fiancé, Julianna La Motte), Nate Granowski (fiancé, Kenzie Lee); great-grandchildren, Jamey Twite & Jaxson Granowski; many nieces & nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Kaminski.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Attendance is limited and masks and social distancing will be required at both church and at St. John’s Cemetery where burial will occur immediately after Mass.  The Mass will be live-streamed on NPCatholic.org.  The public may enter church beginning at 9:30.  Memorials are preferred either to the cemetery fund at St. John’s or the New Prague Veterans Memorial Fund. bruzekfuneralhome.com
