Sharon R. Tietz, 81

Sharon R. Tietz, age 81, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.  Sharon was born on August 3, 1937 in Montgomery, MN to Leonard and Elsie (Pollack) Simonette.  She attended Holy Redeemer Parochial School and graduated from Montgomery High School.  She married the love of her life, Daniel H. Tietz, on September 21, 1956 at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church.  The couple made their home in New Prague, where they raised their five children and Sharon thrived as a homemaker, noted for her cooking and wonderful baking abilities.  Her world revolved around children throughout her life and she provided daycare lovingly in her home for 37 years.  She was a member of a bible study group and a homemaker’s club.  She thoroughly enjoyed garage sales and loved playing cards.  Following her grandchildren’s activities filled her with joy as did camping trips spent with the family. She and Dan made many memories in their frequent travels.

 Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dan Tietz; children, Denise (Bruce) Rynda of New Prague, Dave (Pam) Tietz of New Prague, Dennis (Heather) Tietz of New Prague, Debbie Cobb of Oconomowoc, WI; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Tietz of Waterville; brothers, Dale Simonette of Chanhassan, Keith Simonette of Mankato; sister, June Hanson of Faribault; sisters-in-law, Lavina Harscher & Ellen Simonette-Giles; brother-in-law, Harold Parker; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her sons, Duane “Dewey” and Dale in infancy; parents; step-father, Eddie Pavlicek; brothers, Wayne and David “Punky” Simonette; sisters, Audrey Brady and Lana Parker.

 Memorial Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesburgh with Pastor Henry Koch officiating.  Visitation will take place on Saturday from 5-8 PM at Bruzek Funeral Home and 2 hours prior to service, from noon – 2 PM at church.  Burial will occur at Friedens Lutheran Cemetery followed by lunch in the church hall. bruzekfuneralhome.com
