Student test their spelling skills

Indelible, chivalrous, electrolysis were some of the words that students spelled correctly to win their schools portion of the annual New Prague Area Schools’ Spelling Bee. Held on Saturday, Jan. 12, students from five schools met in the Lecture Hall at New Prague High School to test their skills in front of family and friends. Schools that participated were the elementary schools of Falcon Ridge, Raven Stream and Eagle View, plus New Prague Middle School and St. Wenceslaus School.

Among some of the words that students had to try and spell were flail, champion, Japanese, dormer, mockingly, irked, fulcrum, antagonism, armada, sumptuous, discretion, espionage and acclamation. There were also some words that had some local connections. One was....
