Trojans’ track teams shine at Giants’ Relays

With the season’s championships meets coming up, the New Prague High School track teams shined at the Giants Relays Friday, May 9, at Le Sueur-Henderson High School.

The NP girls won their portion of the meet, finishing with first ahead of Sibley East and Minnesota Valley Lutheran. The New Prague boys took second, just behind the host Giants.

The Trojans ran in the Metro West Conference Championships yesterday, Wednesday, May 14, in Waconia. New Prague will host a six-team meet Wednesday, May 21, 4 p.m., at Trojan Stadium. The section meet is May 29 and 31 at Lakeville South High School.

Girls win The Trojans (Norah Wacek, Hayden Ahlers, Lydia Cavanaugh, Danielle Berg) opened the meet with a thirdplace showing in the 4-by-800- meter relay, finishing 11:24.09.

Natalie Kraft finished fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.89 seconds. Ali Miller took ninth in 14.33 seconds.

The Trojans’ 4-by-200- meter relay team (Frankee Spicer, Sofia Kordah Ellie Bawdon and Macy Rybak) finished second in 1:53.26 – just 2.07 seconds off the winning time. New Prague (Sofia Kordah, Ava Bruegger, Frankee Spicer and Hailey Proshek) won the 4-by-100- meter relay in 51.25 seconds.

In the 4-by-400-meter relay, the quartet of Lyla Schmitt, Carolyn Gallup, Audree Connelly and Audrey Wagner took third in 4:29.22.

In the mile run, New Prague’s Paige Swanepoel took third in 5:56.48. Anna Eichhorst finished a step back in fourth at 5:56.62.

New Prague’s Maya Kilian won the 800-meter run in 2:28.15. Her teammate, Ashley Kulakevich, finished sixth in 2:45.36. Norah Wacek took seventh in 2:47.20.

NP’s Audrey Wagner finished third in the 400-meter dash at 1:04.48. Teammate Danielle Berg took seventh in 1:10.68 while Hayden Ahlers finished 11th in 1:13.62.

New Prague’s Aspen Schieffer took third in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.30 seconds. Eloise Timmermans took fourth in 52.74 seconds and teammate Reagan Kocina finished fifth in 54.22 seconds. Anika Johnson finished ninth in 55.30 seconds.

In the field events, NP’s Susie Dalsin won the high jump at 5-feet. Audree Connelly finished fourth at 4-feet-8. Reggie Skogerboe took fifth at 4-feet-8. NP’s Sienna Larson finished in a tie for 10th at 4-feet-4.

NPHS’s Ellie Bawdon won the long jump with a jump of 15-feet-11. Natalie Kraft took third at 15-feet 2½ while Ali Miller finished fifth at 14-feet. In the triple jump, Lyla Schmitt finished third at 30-feet-10. Karly Ophus was fourth at 29- feet-8½. Tori Nordrum took eighth at 27-feet-7.
