Walter (Bill) Wagner, 68

Walter (Bill) Wagner, age 68, of Hickory Hills, Illinois, died peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019 in Chicago following a long illness. Bill was born in Chicago on April 5, 1950 to Walter W and Jean (Jernstrom) Wagner. Bill graduated from Benet Academy, Lisle, Illinois in 1968, and graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Minnesota in 1972. He married Wanda Terlikowski in Chicago. They lived in Chicago until the time of their divorce in 2004. Bill lived in New Prague, Minnesota from 2005 to 2015, at which time he moved back to Chicago.

Bill worked a number of years for Texaco Oil, and was an office manager for a State Farm Insurance Agency in Chicago and later in Minnesota. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St Patricia Catholic Church in Chicago. Of all that which Bill loved, he loved his family the greatest and was so proud of his children. His second greatest love was the Minnesota Vikings, even though they kept breaking his heart year after year (along with all other Viking fans). His other greatest love was the music of Bob Dylan.

Bill is survived by his children, Joan (Mike) Podrazik, Joseph (Cassie) and Nora, his grandchildren, Jackson and Miles, his ex-spouse, Wanda, all from Chicago, and his brother, Deacon Bob (Ruth) Wagner of New Prague. Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth Wagner, and his parents, Walter and Jean Wagner.

Bill’s wake and funeral will be at Lack and Sons Funeral Home, Hickory Hills, Illinois on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Visitation at the funeral home is from 12 pm to 2 pm. A memorial service for Bill, officiated by his brother, Deacon Bob Wagner, will be from 2 pm to 3 pm. The burial of his cremains will happen on a later date.
