Alice Martha Slechta, 91

Alice Martha Slechta, age 91 of Waterville died on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Owatonna Hospital.

Born on January 30, 1928 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Frank and Martha (Volkman) Maas. Alice was baptized and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She attended rural country school near the family farm in rural Janesville. Alice married Leo Slechta on August 11, 1947 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, baking, quilting, and crafts. Alice also enjoyed her extensive holiday baking and candy making. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville.

She is survived by her three daughters, Betty (Mel Kuball) Gregor of Waterville, Bonnie (Greg) Harriman of Waterville; and Kathy (Stan Lindow) Morse of Rice Lake, WI; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Ernie, Alfred, Lester, Mary, Gladys, Alvina, Harold, Lawrence, Kenneth, Charles, Adeline, Caroline, and Delores “Mickey”.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services of Waterville is handling arrangements.
