Buccaneer nine looking for 4th straight title

The WEM baseball team will be looking for a fourth straight Gopher Conference title this spring.

The Bucs are 43-18 in the last three years and are 31-5 in the conference, winning the last three titles.

This season five seniors and six juniors will look to continue the championship run for head coach Sam Stier, who is starting his fifth season with the Bucs.

The seniors returning include Jacob Meskan (Inf),Tyson Miska (OF), Adam Rients (OF, 2nd, C), Michael Ungs (P, OF, 3rd), and Will Storch (C, OF, 3rd).

Storch is a returning All-Conference performer whohit .357 and led the team with 21 RBI, five doubles,and was hit by eight pitches.

Rients played in 14 games. Meskan, Miska, and Ungs each played in 10 games.

The junior class includes Bladyn Bartelt (P, OF),Parker Bahnsen (OF),Jayson Schneider (P, 1st),Wyatt Storch (OF, P, C),Colby Fessel (DH, 1st, 3rd),and Cody Merritt (OF, 3rd, 2nd).

Bartelt was an All-Conference pitcher last yea rwho finished with a 7-1 pitching record in 10 appearances. He had a .98 earned run average and finished with 58 strike outs in 43 innings. At the plate he batted .387 with 24 hits, 16 RBI, 15 runs scored, and five doubles.

Schneider hit .389 on the junior varsity last year. He also had a 0.97 earned run average, pitching in four games. He also started a number of games at 1st for the varsity. Fessel hit .405 on the junior varsity.
