Robert "Bob" Victor Oser, 93

Robert "Bob" Victor Oser, age 93 of Waseca died on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born on November 11, 1925 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Leroy and Frances (Petress) Oser of Peoria, IL. In December of 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and was sent to the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and reenlisted and was sent to the First Marine Division and was assigned to Peking, China for 2 years. He returned to Peoria and graduated from Bradley University.

In 1949, he moved to Waseca and worked for many years at the E.F. Johnson Co. as a design draftsman. In January of 1959 he married Charlet Hasner Allen of Waseca and together they raised three daughters and one son.

During the 60’s, Bob wrote a column, Multitudes Multitudes for the Waseca paper. Moving to the Twin Cities in 1966, he worked in product design for many Fortune 500 companies. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 228 in Waseca and the VFW Post 2633 in Waterville. He was a renowned fastpitch player for many years throughout the Midwest. Retiring from pitching, he coached both fastpitch softball and baseball. Upon his retirement to Waterville, he spent 6 years as the Varsity head coach of the Girls Fastpitch Softball program at the WEM High School. He also served as the local chairman for the VFW Voice of Democracy program held each year at WEM.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlet Oser of Waseca; daughters, Carla (Tom) Mullen and Merila (Butch) Kramer both of Waseca, Linda (Greg) Kelm of Eden Prairie, Jackie (Wayne) Bean of AZ; and son, Ladd Oser and fiancée, Brenda Kittleson of Waseca; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held after the burial from 3-6 p.m. at the Boat House in Waseca.
