Yvonne Trcka, 77, of Montgomery, died at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague on Friday, May 25, 2018, from a stroke.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of service. Chaplin, Deb Mechley will be officiating. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery.
Rita H. Schipreth, 84, of Le Center, died on May, 17, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System, New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center with visitation two hours prior at the church. Father Chris Shofner will be officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Rita was born on March 21, 1934, in Cleveland to Frank and Mary (Lucy) Schipreth. Rita went to County School and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1954. She worked in restaurants and factories.
Janet Edith Schoenbauer Retka, 84, of St. Thomas, MN died peacefully Saturday, May 12, 2018. Jan suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease and lived the last four years of her life at Traditions in Montgomery.
Jan’s Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 16, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Roger Hessian presiding. The visitation will be at Schoenbauer Funeral Home, 200 Third St SE, Montgomery on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral Mass at St. Thomas.
Stanley Ben Barta, 88, of Montgomery, passed away at The Villages of Lonsdale on Thursday, May 3, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with visitation one hour prior at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
Isla Mikkelson Bortnem was born in Colman, SD on Feb. 26, 1926, and she peacefully passed away on May 2 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. A brief service celebrating Isla’s life will be held at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montgomery, MN on Monday, May 7.
Floyd and Isla Bortnem were married for 55 years. Floyd passed away in 2001. Isla was a woman who faced life head on. She attended SDSU with the intention of entering the business world but was sidetracked by Floyd to be a farmer’s wife.
Mahlon J. Pikal, age 88, of Montgomery, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, April 30, 2018. He was born on March 20, 1930, in New Prague to James J. and Emma (Trcka) Pikal. Born and raised in the New Prague area, Mahlon attended Le Sueur County District School and graduated from New Prague High School. He married Rose L.

Ralph J. Weiers, age 92, of Union Hill, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Ralph was born on September 24, 1925, in Derrynane Township, Le Sueur County, to William A. and Josephine (Barten) Weiers. He lived his entire life in the Union Hill area where he attended St. John’s Catholic School. After his marriage to Helen M. Neisen on September 29, 1951 at St.
Irene A. Unger, age 85, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at her home. Irene was born on September 28, 1932, in Montgomery to Frank J. and Emma A. (Shetka) Ambroz. She grew up in rural Montgomery and attended Le Sueur County District School. She moved into New Prague and worked as a nanny for Warren and Bonnie Vollmar for many years before marrying her husband, Albert F. Unger on October 13, 1951 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
