Irene D. Kubes, age 93, of Lakeville, passed away on February 23, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Kubes; son, Allen Kubes; her parents, Edward and Anna Sevcik; her brother Arnie Sevcik, and many in-laws.
Irene is survived by sons, Ronald (Pamela), Mark and Kevin; grandchildren, Bryan Kubes (Laura), Scott Kubes, Scarlet Mockwitz-Kubes and Preston Mockwitz-Kubes; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Teske; many other relatives and friends.
Beloved wife and mother, Janet “Jan” Horsley, age 40, of New Prague, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at home. Jan was born November 13, 1984, to Paul and Cheryl (Westholder) Hartman in Shakopee, where she grew up and attended Shakopee High School. She met Kris Horsley on Christian Mingle in November of 2012. Despite many technological snafus, both of them knew within a week of connecting that they were meant to be together. Kris told his mom the day after Thanksgiving as she was leaving to return to Montana that he was going to “marry this woman”. She knew the same!
Harold Holec, age 61, of Plymouth, MN, died Feb 16, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Minnetonka after a long, brave battle.
Harold was born Nov 6, 1963, in New Prague, MN, to Henry E. Holec and Lucille D. Cornetet.
He graduated from New Prague High School in 1982 and soon after, joined the Navy. After discharge, Harold moved to the Washington DC area.
Janet K. Walker, age 82, of New Prague, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Janet was born on October 30, 1942, in Winnebago, MN, to Earl Pierce and Florence Nowak Pierce. She grew up in Winnebago and was a 1960 graduate of Winnebago High School. She met a young man on a blind date and it went so well that he showed up on her doorstep the very next day and they both knew it was a "match made in heaven". She and Francis L. Walker were married on November 17, 1962, at St.
Marilyn Rose Mallberg, 81, of Marana, Arizona entered eternal life on Saturday, February 22. Born on October 7, 1943, in New Prague, Minnesota to Emil and Lillian Petricka, she was the second of three children. Marilyn graduated from Montgomery High School in 1961, as did her future husband, who happened to be 16 minutes older than her. On February 5, 1966 she married Dean Mallberg in Montgomery, Minnesota. They recently celebrated their 59th year together.
Helen M. Peters, age 85, of New Prague, died unexpectedly at her home after a brief illness, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Helen was born on July 9, 1939, in New Prague, to Jake and Marcella (Hinderscheid) Giesen. She attended elementary school in Union Hill and graduated from New Prague High School. She met and fell in love with a dashing young man at a wedding dance and she and Richard Peters married at St.
Marilyn Agnes Miller, age 86, of Montgomery, died at Mala Strana Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in New Prague on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Mary Lou Dobihal, age 94, of White Bear Lake, formerly of Big Fork, MN, died peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Prelude Memory Care. Mary Lou was born on September 18, 1930, in New Prague, to George F. and Eleanor Louise (Bruzek) Parkos. She spent a week-and-a-half in kindergarten and went right to first grade! After graduating from New Prague High School, she completed a nursing degree at the College of St.
Nancy L. (Slater) Friedges, age 64, of New Market, MN, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2025, at her home. Nancy was born in St. Paul, MN, on September 13, 1960, to Joseph and
Delores “Dori” (Moehrle) Slater. She grew up in the Savage/ Burnsville area and was a graduate of Burnsville High School. Nancy married Bruce Friedges on October 17, 1987, at St. Nicholas
Catholic Church in New Market and they have lived on their family farm for the last 38 years with their two boys, A.J and Corey. Nancy worked at Mystic Lake in Human Resources for many
Susan R. Roe, age 71, of New Prague, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Sue was born on July 10, 1953, in New Prague, to Joseph G. and Mary A. (Tupa) Novotny. She graduated from New Prague High School and went on to Faribault Vocational Technical College (now South Central College). She worked as an executive assistant for many years for Fahey Real Estate. She married Richard Dean Roe, her high school sweetheart, on January 8, 1972, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
Karen Vanasek passed away peacefully on Feb.16, 2025. Karen was born in Los Angeles and always liked to refer to herself as a “California Girl”. She was born 7 months after her father died unexpectedly. Her mother remarried and they moved to her second father’s hometown of New Market where she attended St. Nicholas School and then New Prague High School where she was elected Homecoming Queen. She and her husband Alan began dating in high school over 66 years ago and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August.

Lorraine was born March 26, 1925, in New Prague, MN, to Joseph and Julia (Uhlir) Javurek.
Douglas Clark Kick, age 70, of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home.
