Irene Mae Overdahl, age 97, of New Prague, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Irene was born on April 24, 1924 in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota to Rudolf H. and Ottlina L. (Schlauderaff) Honza.

Mary L. Krenik, age 99, of  Edina, died peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.  Mary was born on February 16, 1922 in New Prague to John E.  and Emma B. (Komarek) Krenik.  She was raised in New Prague, and graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and New Prague High School.  She worked for 10 years at First National Bank in New Prague before permanently moving to Minneapolis and working for 30 years at Farmers and Mechanics Bank as a clerk/typist, retiring in 1984.  Mary was kindness personified and a joy to be around.

Kenneth(Ken) J. Mares, age 61 of Lakeville, passed away on Oct. 10, 2021.  Ken was preceded in death by his loving parents Myles & Dorothy.  He is survived by his sisters Patty Simberg, Rita (Jack) Molumby and his brother Larry.
Per Ken’s wishes he will be cremated and interred with our parents.  Our brother was an uncomplicated man with a heart of gold.  He was loved and we will miss him.  Per his wishes there will be no memorial observance.  We want to thank those who supported us on this journey.  It is appreciated. 

Allen L. Tikalsky, age 76, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at his home at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Allen was born on June 4, 1945 in New Prague to Henry and Lorraine E. (Hadac) Tikalsky.  He attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School.  He then entered the US Navy, where he served for 8 years, working on naval ships first in the Phillipines.  It was while he was home on leave that he met his bride, Lucille I.

Kurt M. Swaggert, age 33, died unexpectedly at his New Prague home on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021.
Born on April 15, 1988, in Minneapolis to Patrick J. and Lynn (Tisdel) Swaggert, Kurt moved with his family to New Prague for the start of kindergarten. Kurt went on to graduate from New Prague High School and then moved to Avondale, Arizona, where he earned an associate degree in automotive technology from Universal Technical Institute.

Georgean Kohoutek, age 89, of New Prague, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Traditions of Montgomery.  Georgean was born on January 26, 1932 at home to Alois J. and Lidwina (Steinhoff) Pauly.  She attended a small country school in Helena Township and New Prague High School.  When her brother was drafted into the US Army during WWII, Georgean stayed home to help on the farm and became very close to her father as a result.  She met and married the love of her life, Walter W. Kohoutek on June 29, 1949 at St.

John C. Sheehan, age 67, of Chaska, died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Hennepin County Medical Center.  John was born on July 27, 1954, in Waseca, MN to Edward F. and Lucille M. (Kreuser) Sheehan.  He grew up in New Prague, attended St.

Patrick Skelley passed away on September 24, 2021 in Belle Plaine after battling heart disease.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Jessenland.  Fr. Michael Kaluza, will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8-10 a.m.  followed by a procession to Jessenland for the Mass.  Interment will be in the church cemetery and lunch will follow at the Belle Plaine Vet’s Club.

Lowell E. Tangen, age 68, of New Prague, died peacefully with his family at his side at his home on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.  Lowell was born on March 7, 1953 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Selmer E. and Dorothy M. (Erickson) Tangen.  He grew up on the family farm near Hawley, MN, graduating from Hawley High School.  He graduated from the agricultural college of Crookston Junior College in 1973 and then went on to attain his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science, graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota in 1974.  Lowell married the love of his life, Marsha E.

William “Bill” Silliman, age 75, of Bigfork, MN passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, surrounded by family.

George J. Shambour, age 93 of Veseli, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2021.
George was born on November 19, 1927 to Joseph and Anna (Maruska) Shambour in New Prague, Minnesota. He attended country school, also St. Wenceslaus Catholic school, and graduated from New Prague High School in 1945. He farmed all of his life with a true passion and love of the land.

Ronald John Dohmen, age 81 of Dennison, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday morning, September 18, 2021.
Ron was born on December 13, 1939 in Humphrey, Nebraska, the son of Edward and Rose (Schaecher) Dohmen. His family moved to Minnesota in 1949. Ron spent his high school years at seminary in Chicago and later attended Hastings High School, graduating in 1957. He completed basic training with the US Army in 1960 at Fort Leonard, MO and served with the National Guard.

Hofmeister, Dorothy E. (Meyer), age 89 of Bloomington, passed away serenely at home in her own bed surrounded by loved ones on September 16, 2021.
