The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team closed out its regular season with a pair of wins last week, over Orono and Hutchinson. That gave the team a perfect 10-0 record in the Wright County Conference East division. That gives the Trojans the conference championship for the fourth time in the five years they have been in the conference.

The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team, which finished the regular season 16-10 and 10-0 in the Wright County Conference East Division, received the No. 3 seed in the Section 1AAAA tournament.
The tournament begins Wednesday, March 6, with the top four seeds hosting games. New Prague will face Rochester Mayo, the No. 6 seed. The Spartans are 15-11 and placed fourth in the Big 9 Conference with a 14-8 record.

New Prague's Nick Novak won his first round match at the state Class AAA wrestling tournament Friday, march 1, but lost his second round match.
In the morning session, Novak, the No. 5 seed at 120 pounds, defeated Ben Stites of Minneapolis Southwest by fall in 3:28. In the afternoon session he lost to Nic Cantu of Albert Lea, the No. 4 seed, by a 3-0 score.
Novak will compete in the wrestlebacks later Friday evening. If he wins, he advances to the consolation round on Saturday.

The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team knew going in that it would be a tall task in their Section 2AA quarterfinal game.
The opponent was Minnetonka, a team that spent much of the season ranked No. 1 in the state, and was still ranked No. 2 going into the post season. The Skippers were the No. 1 seed in the section and the Trojans No. 8.

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team closed out the regular season with a win over Delano Friday, Feb. 22. The win, and a Waconia win over Holy Family the previous evening, gave the Trojans a share of the Wright County Conference East title with those two teams, as all three had 7-3 conference records.

The New Prague adapted floor hockey team won two games last week, defeating Winona and St. Paul Humboldt.
The team was scheduled to host Stillwater Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Burnsville/Farmington/ Lakeville Wednesday, Feb. 27. New Prague plays at Minneapolis Edison Thursday, Feb. 28, and will play their regular season finale on Tuesday, March 5, at home against South Washington County.
New Prague, which has athletes from Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Jordan and Belle Plaine, has a 4- 1 record going into this week’s games, with one week left in the regular season.

New Prague High School wrestler Nick Novak was the lone Trojan to qualify for the State Class AAA wrestling tournament March 1 and 2 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Novak lost in the championship match at 120 pounds, 4-2 to Ben Lunn of Shakopee, then defeated Theron Wendt of Lakeville South by fall in the true second match to earn his second state berth.
Teammates Colby Dunkel, Joey Novak, Jake Trachte and Brennan Rutt all won third place matches, but none had an opportunity to wrestle for true-second.

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team received the No. 5 seed in the Section 1AAAA tournament, which begins play Wednesday, Feb. 27.
New Prague (13-12) will travel to No. 4 seed Lakeville South (9-17) for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday. The Cougars defeated the Trojans 58-44 on December 20.
Farmington received the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Rochester Century. Rochester Mayo is No. 6, and will play at No. 3 Rochester John Marshall, while No. 7 Owatonna is at No. 2 Lakeville North.

Despite a loss to Waconia last week, the New Prague Trojans are still in the hunt for a tie in the Wright County Conference East division, going into the final games of the season.
Holy Family Catholic leads the conference with a 7-2 record. New Prague and Waconia are tied for second at 6-3. Waconia plays Holy Family on Thursday, Feb. 21. If Waconia wins, the Trojans can make it a three-way tie for first with a win at Delano Friday, Feb. 22.

The New Prague Trojan wrestling team finished its dual meet season Friday, Feb. 15, at the Section 2AAA meet. New Prague defeated Eastview in the quarterfinals before losing to Apple Valley in the semifinals.
New Prague finished the regular season with a 20-4 record, with all four losses coming to state-ranked teams. The Trojans were rated No. 7 in the most recent state Class AAA poll.
Trojan Coach Dan Wagner said it was a great night of wrestling. “We came into the event with a couple of untimely injuries that played a huge factor in our dual with Apple Valley,” he said.

The New Prague Trojan adapted floor hockey team claimed a pair of victories last week, against South Suburban and Dakota United.
Trojans 12, Jets 0 New Prague hosted South Suburban Tuesday, Feb. 12, and scored a 12-0 win.
"We were very happy just to get a game in with all the weather cancellations we’ve had this year," said Coach Shellie Kriha. "And we were thrilled to be able to come out so strong against South Suburban."
New Prague had six goals in the first and three each in the second and third periods.

Allie Eischens of the New Prague High School gymnastics team will be competing at the state Class AA meet at the University of Minnesota Maturi New Prague Times Sports Pavilion this weekend. Eischens qualified on the uneven bars and the balance beam on Friday, Feb. 15, as New Prague hosted the Section 2AA Gymnastics Tournament. New Prague finished third at the tourney with a score of 138.075. Lakeville North won the tourney and Lakeville South was second. For more see an upcoming print issue of The New Prague Times. The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team received the 8th seed for the Section 2AA playoffs. Seedings were announced Sunday, Feb. 17.
The Trojans will face No. 1 seed Minnetonka, which is ranked No. 2 in Class AA. The game will be played at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21. The Trojans enter the game with a 10-14-1 record, while the Skippers are 20-2-2.
Other first round games have No. 4 Prior Lake hosting No. 5 Holy Family Catholic, No. 3 Eden Prairie hosting No. 6 Chanhassen and No. 2 Chaska hosting No. 7 Shakopee.

The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team saw their season end Friday, Feb. 8, with a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Minnetonka Skippers in the Section 2AA quarterfinals.
New Prague, which finished the season with a 14-9- 3 record, came into the game as the No. 7 seed in the section. Minnetonka (12-13-1) was the No. 2 seed.

The New Prague Trojans dropped into a tie for first place with Holy Family Catholic after losing to the Fire 61-47 in Victoria Friday. Earlier in the week, New Prague defeated Orono 60- 43.

The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team won two games over the past week, defeating Orono and Hastings. The team also lost to St. Michael-Albertville. All three games were played at home.
The Trojans (11-10, 5-0 Wright County Conference) return to action Friday, Feb. 15, at Waconia. They host Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Trojans 64 Spartans 39 New Prague jumped to an early lead and were never threatened in a WCC game against Orono Tuesday, Feb. 5.
