The New Prague Adapted Floor Hockey team lost to Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville in a thrilling 5-4 overtime contest Thursday, Jan. 24.
New Prague trailed 3-2 going into the final period, but tied the game at 4-4 in the third. The Blazing Cats scored the game-winner with 50 seconds left in the overtime period.
New Prague outshot BFL 33-15 for the game.
Evan Minar had two goals and two assists for New Prague. Seth Dorner and Garret Gagner had the other goals, with Blake Perry getting an assist.

Yesterday it was announced that the New Prague High School girls basketball game had been moved from Friday, Feb. 8 to Thursday, Feb. 7.
Forget that plan.
With a classes cancelled for Thursday, the game has been postponed. The make-up date has been set for.... Friday, Feb. 8 the originally scheduled date. The game will be played at Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria. B-squad plays at 5:30 p.m., varsity at 7 p.m.

This past weekend the New Prague Archery Club hosted their annual home tournament with 652 archers from 34 different schools.
The High School team finished in second, falling to Mahtomedi by only eight points, with Princeton High School placing third.
The New Prague Middle School finished second behind Princeton Middle School with Jackson Middle School from Champlin Park taking third.
The Elementary team also finished second, with Milaca finishing first.

The New Prague Trojan wrestling team won the Wright County Conference East championship Thursday, Jan. 31, by defeating Waconia 38-28 in the New Prague gym.
The two teams came into the match undefeated in the conference. New Prague was ranked No. 6 in Class AAA and Waconia was no. 6 in Class AA.
The Trojans have a dual meet record of 15-3 entering the final week of the regular season. They are scheduled to host Rosemount on Thursday, Feb. 7, and will compete in the Minnetonka Duals on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team received the No. 7 seed for Section 2AA playoffs and will travel to Minnetonka Friday, Feb. 8, to face the No. 2-seed Skippers at Pagel Arena.
The Trojans are 13-8-3 on the season, and have one more regular season game left, Monday, Feb. 4, at Waconia. The Skippers are 11-12-1 and have one more game left, Tuesday, Feb. 5, against Blaine.

5-Holy Family Catholic at 4-Shakopee
6-Bloomington Jefferson at 3-Chaska/Chanhassen

The New Prague Trojan wrestling team defeated Waconia 38-28 Thursday, Jan. 31, to complete an undefeated season in the Wright County Conference East Division and claim the conference title.
A key win in the match came at 138 pounds, where senior Bryce Lofton, trailing 14-0 and facing a possible technical fall loss, opened the third period with an escape, then a takedown and pinned his opponent. That 11-point swing in the team score proved the difference in the match.

The New Prague Trojan boys hockey team was mired in a scoring slump going into Friday’s game at Hutchinson. The team had lost seven straight and had scored just five goals since turning the calendar over to 2019.
They broke out of that slump in a big way, scoring three first period goals on their way to an 8-0 win over the host Tigers. That came after a 6-1 loss to Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

New Prague and Waconia are scheduled to face each other Thursday, Jan. 31, with the Wright County Conference East wrestling championship on the line. The match will take place in the Trojan gym with a scheduled start time of 7 p.m.
That match is subject to postponement due to weather conditions.
The Trojans improved to 3- 0 in the conference with a convincing win over Orono Thursday, Jan. 24. Two days later they claimed first place in the Orono Invitational, with all but two of the Trojan entries placing in the tournament.

The New Prague Trojan gymnastics team battled injuries and still had a good score in a win over Annandale Thursday, Jan. 24. The score was 137.6-124.525.
In addition to two Trojans out for the season (Tina Shimota and Ellie Morris), two other varsity athletes were out with minor injuries for the meet.
The Trojans had solid bars and good vault and floor routines. "Beam had a few slip-ups, but was OK," Coach Doug Amundsen said. "The girls are showing their depth and working hard to stay consistent."

Despite today's school cancellation, two New Prague High School sports teams are still scheduled to compete tonight (Thursday, Jan. 31).
The wrestling team will take on Waconia as scheduled in the New Prague High School Gym. The meet, between the Trojans (No. 6, Class AAA) and Wildcats (No. 6, Class AA) will determine the Wright County Conference East champions. JV wrestling starts at 6 p.m., with varsity action scheduled for 7 p.m.

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team had a pair of second-half comebacks last week to keep their winning streak alive. The Trojans defeated Minnetonka and Holy Family Catholic to up their record to 9-8, having won six straight games since the beginning of 2019.
New Prague was scheduled to face Waconia Tuesday, Jan. 22. They will host Delano on Friday, Jan. 25, then travel to Eden Prairie for a non-conference game Tuesday, Jan. 29.

The New Prague Trojan girls hockey team won two of three games last week, defeating Litchfield/Dassel- Cokato and Northfield before losing a 5-1 contest to Delano Rockford.
The Trojans (13-6-2, 5-3-1 Wright County Conference) were scheduled to face Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday, Jan. 22. They host Hutchinson on Friday, Jan. 25, then play on the road at Waconia on Tuesday, Jan. 29. Their regular season finale will be Friday, Feb. 1, at home against Orono.

The New Prague Trojan boys basketball team continued a stretch of tough opponents last week, losing two games, but defeating Holy family Catholic in their Wright County Conference opener Friday, Jan. 18.
New Prague was scheduled to host Waconia on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and will travel to Delano Friday, Jan. 25. New Prague returns home to face non-conference Hastings Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Eagles 80, Trojans 53 New Prague took on No. 6- ranked Eden Prairie and for the fist 18 minutes, things were even as the teams were tied 30-30 at the half.

The New Prague Adapted Floor Hockey team won its season opener Tuesday, Jan. 15, claiming an 8-0 win over the South Suburban Jets in Bloomington.
New Prague took a 4-0 lead in the first period, with Seth Dorner getting three goals and Garret Gagner one.
Gagner, Evan Minar and Chase Smith each scored in the second and Blake Perry tallied a goal in the third to make it an 8-0 final.
Breanna Stark was solid in the net, stopping all 21 shots she faced.
Dorner added two assists and Gagner one.

The Dakota-Rice-Scott League held its winter meeting Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Doublewide Bar in Elko New Market.
All 13 teams were represented at the meeting. Shakopee’s Jesse Nystrom and New Prague’s Nick Schoenecker were introduced as new managers for 2019.
All league officers were elected for another year. President is Mike Sticha, vice president Greg Faue, secretary Sean O’Neill and treasurer Chris Hertaus. Sticha was appointed to manage the league’s website and social media and handle player contracts. O’Neill is the Region 3C Commissioner.

The New Prague High School boys hockey team was tagged with a pair of Wright County Conference losses last week. The Trojans lost to Orono 3-1 and to Mound Westonka 4-0.
New Prague has lost four in a row and five of its last six to drop to 6-9-1 on the season. The Trojans were scheduled to face Litchfield/ Dassel-Cokato on Tuesday, Jan. 15, and will host Delano on Friday, Jan. 18. They play Holy Family Catholic at home on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Spartans 3, Trojans 1 New Prague and Orono faced off in New Prague on Tuesday, Jan. 8, with the Spartans going home with a 3-1 win.
